A Fun Bite for a Fun Summer!

Spice your summer with this hot recipe that is extremely easy to do. Shishito peppers tend to have a mild heat with a relatively sweet flavor. The fun part about eating these peppers is that a few of them will give you a fiery punch! Make sure to warn your guests that don't tolerate spicy food.

Head up! You are going to need a Cast Iron Skillet for this recipe.

Ingredients

Directions

Set up your grill for direct heat and place the skillet on the grill to preheat. Aim for about 300-350 degrees. Rinse off the peppers over cold water and pat them dry. Place peppers in a bowl and drizzle lightly with olive oil.

adding olive oil to the peppers

Sprinkle the peppers with a pinch or two of the Shichimi Tōgarashi Spice. This is a very spicy mix and has a lot of red pepper in it so use it sparingly at first. You can always add more after the peppers are cooked. Do not salt the peppers before they are cooked because they will wilt.

Add the peppers to the hot pan and let the peppers blister. It does not take long for the peppers to blister and char a little. You want the peppers to have a little crunch to them.

Remove the peppers and sprinkle them with some kosher salt and serve hot.

Remember, one out of every 10 or so peppers will have a little extra kick of spiciness so watch out and enjoy!

super premium lump charcoal

I use my Kamado Joe weekly if not 3-4 times a week. I have experimented with a number of different charcoals and the Fogo Super Premium is the BEST - hands down not even close game over!!!

35 lbs Bag

Great product!!
Perfect size chunks for smoking. Can't wait for my Fogo Rub!!

FoGo charcoal

The charcoal chunks are huge and once its starts it does seem to burn for a while . However, it take much much too long to start....I tried 30 minutes and finally went to an hour in advance of my cook start . Over an hour to get the fire going well wasn't expected and nor is it acceptable.

Sorry only rate it 2 stars

Best hardwood lump coal

Need I say more? This product is the best!

Unquestionably the best

I have used numerous brands for my Big Joe and nothing comes close to the premium Fogo lump. The chunks are huge and they burn forever. Great stuff!
