How To Calibrate your Big Green Egg Dome Thermometer

One of the most important parts of BBQ and grilling is knowing the temperature at which you are cooking. Your grill probably came with some type of thermometer to let you know the temperature at which you are cooking. Through use, the thermometer will become less and less accurate. This is not a good thing! They can be off by 20, 30, maybe 50 degrees. Well, don’t worry, this video will show you exactly how to calibrate your thermometer so that when you want to smoke a brisket at 250°, you will know that you are actually cooking at 250°. It is an amazingly simple process. Click the video below and watch as Captain Ron takes you through the whole thing and explains why this is so important.

  • While the BGE large thermometer doesn’t have 212F it does have 100C—same, same.

  • Ron- Been enjoying ALL of the videos. Good tips, mentions of suppliers that are of interest, and recipes on the ceramic grills. I’ve had charcoal, gas, infrared and have enjoyed my ceramic more than any of them. With the pizza stones, diffusers, etc., best versatility and control of all charcoal grilling techniques. Keep making the videos!
